USPS Stamp Issues for 2022

The United States Postal Service (USPS) announced the release of several new stamps for 2022. There are always new stamp issues from the USPS, and this year is no different.

For 2022, the USPS has issued 36 new postage stamps with various themes and designs. This year's new additions include new designs for existing series such as the love series and Black Heritage series as well as new topics such as Title IX. Several of this year's stamps feature women, music, and more. The collection features a wide variety of stamps, twenty-six of which were initially announced on November 1st, 2021. Throughout the rest of 2022 several additional postage stamps were issued and made available to the public for purchase.

Each year the USPS adds to their previous offerings of forever stamps, postcard stamps, global/international postage and stamps for various mail rates such as two-ounce letters. The entire collection for 2022 is shown below:

2022 U.S. Flags

The 2022 edition of the USPS series dedicated to U.S. Flags celebrates the American flag in all its glory. The design features three U.S. flags are arranged as if in a circular formation around the Washington Monument.

Pony Cars

Issue Date:

These USPS stamps celebrate five iconic U.S. automobiles, painted using oil paints and evoking the American spirit found in muscle cars.

2022 Love Series Flowers

The 2022 issue for the USPS's "Love" stamp stamp series feature floral blooms in two pastel designs.

Lunar New Year (Year of the Tiger)

The third stamp in this Lunar New Year stamp series is a beautiful and creative way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. It's a contemporary take on the long tradition of paper-cut folk-art crafts that are traditionally made during this celebratory time of year.

Edmonia Lewis

The 45th stamp in the USPS's Black Heritage series, this design honors famous sculptor Edmonia Lewis based on a photo that was taken while she was in Boston between 1864 and 1871.

Title IX 50th Anniversary

This stamp's release commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs. Four different stamp designs depict various female athletes: a runner, a swimmer, a gymnast, and a soccer player. Laurel branches, symbolic of victory, are seen on the swimmer's red cap and in their hair.

African Daisy Global Rate

Mountain Flora

This set of four stamps celebrate the beauty of mountain flowers, each hand-drawn design featuring floral plants native to mountain regions.

Sunflower Bouquet

This new stamp features a bouquet bright and beautiful sunflowers for a cheerful and inviting design. The two-ounce stamp is perfect for envelopes that need extra postage, such as wedding invitations, large birthday cards, and other oversized envelopes.

Tulip

The Tulips Forever stamp features a colorful assortment of overlapping tulips in red, orange, yellow, purple. This stamp can be used on RSVP envelopes often enclosed with wedding invitations but they're also perfect for more informal correspondence such as party invitations and thank-you notes.

Eugenie Clark
