Forever Stamps

Forever postage stamps are exactly what they sound like—stamps that you can use forever, no matter how much postage rates increase in the future. And with the USPS constantly increasing rates (often multiple times a year) these stamps have become the standard format when issuing first-class stamps. In fact, since 2014 all first-class postage from the USPS are issued as "forever" stamps.

In 2023, forever stamps costs $0.63 each and can be used to send any one-ounce first-class letter. These non-denominated stamps never expire, saving both time and money for people when compared to the old way of having to add a 2 or 3 cent stamp alongside older stamps to ensure mail had enough postage.

Where to Buy Forever Stamps

You can buy forever postage stamps from several different places. The most common way is at your local post office, but you can skip the long lines and order online instead! Here are the best places to buy forever stamps online:

Amazon.com - Amazon is the best place to get postage stamps if you need them in a hurry—most stamps can be received in 1-2 days if you're a prime member. Amazon also has a large selection of previous stamp designs from previous years, ones that the USPS no longer offers online or at the local post office. One other benefit of purchasing postage from Amazon is that it is the only place you can return postage stamps if you're not happy with your purchase—the USPS does not issue refunds for stamp purchases.

Ebay - Ordering postage on Ebay is more economical than from Amazon, but shipping times will vary as will the seller. Shipping times are usually 3-5 days but vary on a number of factors. You also have to be more mindful of potentially fraudulent listings. It's always best to buy postage from sellers with a good reputation; avoid prices that are too good to be true—they probably are. The selection of stamps available on Ebay is the largest; you'll find stamps that go back many years as well as various lots and stamps for collectors, too.

The USPS Website - The United States Postal Service offers their latest forever stamps on the USPS website. They have the best prices but the worst shipping times. They say to allow for 7-10 days for delivery. So if you're in no hurry, ordering from the USPS is the most affordable option. It's important to note that they only offer a limited selection of the latest forever stamps. If you're looking for specific stamp designs that were previously offered, you won't find them on their website.
